Maintaining good communication with principals and teachers is critical to the success of every SCA project. Often, many facilities include more than one school organization which requires coordination with multiple principals and staffs who share common spaces.

On all SCA projects in occupied schools, it is important that the SCA project officers provide information and respond to concerns in a timely manner throughout the process. From the initial scope through construction completion, regular meetings are held with school representatives to discuss the progress of the work. After the construction contract is awarded, a UFT Health and Safety Protocol meeting is held at the school. Invited to the meeting are the principal, UFT chapter leader and UFT Borough Health and Safety Officer, CFN leader, school custodian, parent representative and the SCA project team. Safety issues are reviewed, the scope of work is clarified and the construction schedule is discussed.
